Goon “Mini Review”

Directed by Michael Dowse
Cast Seann William Scott, Liev Schreiber
Jay Baruchel, Marc-Andre Grondin
Alison Pill, Eugene Levy

Doug Glatt (Scott) works as a bouncer, classed
as a misfit by his rich and well educated family,
he accidently lands a job playing ice hockey for
a local semi-pro outfit The Halifax Highlanders.

Brought onboard as an enforcer and nicknamed
the Thug, Glatt’s main role in the team is to protect
the Highlander’s star player Laflamme.

Liev Schreiber gives a delightful over the top
performance as the ageing Enforcer Ross Rhea,
playing for The St. John’s Shamrocks Rhea is the
ultimate Hockey Enforcer and has made a career
of beating the crap out of his opponents, and boy
does he enjoy it. Rhea’s team the Shamrock’s and
Glatt’s The Highlanders are on course to meet in
the playoffs and if this happens “The Thug” and
“The Boss” are on a collision course that can only
mean only one thing AN almighty showdown.

If you enjoyed Evan Goldberg’s (Superbad &
The Pineapple Express) and that brand of
humour tickles your fancy then Seann William
Scott’s Goon is right up your street, it’s vulgar,
violent comedy at it’s best, granted it won’t win
any prizes for originality but it’s a funny movie
nevertheless and you will find yourself cheering
the underdog all the way to the Sin Bin.
