In 1994 came the wonderful Heavenly Creatures
helmed by Jackson & also a movie he co-wrote with
his wife Fran Walsh. Kate Winslet’s screen debut.

In 1996 comedy horror film The Frighteners
became Jackson’s next movie, starring the star
of the Back to the Future movies Michael J Fox

The Lord of the Rings in 2001-2005 became
Peter Jackson’s next films – a trilogy based on the
fantasy novels written by JRR Tolkien.

The Return of the King (the last in the trilogy)
won eleven Oscars including Best Director.

In 2005 Peter Jackson worked with Universal to
bring us a remake of monster movie King Kong.

Peter Jackson was paid $20 million to direct,
the highest salary ever paid to a film director in
advance of production.

In 2009 Peter Jackson helmed The Lovely Bones
I enjoyed this movie much more than my friends
with a terrific performance given by Saoirse Ronan

This year (2012) Peter Jackson has began work on
the prequel to The Lord of the Rings – The Hobbit
part 1 being released in December 2012
